NAU Cycling
The NAU cycling team is headed to Angel Fire resort in New Mexico next weekend for the Collegiate Gravity National Champs. With this being the first year that I am on the team, in really excited about going to this race. Racing for NAU is going to be pretty cool, especially because its more of a team event than anything.
We will be racing DH and Dual Slalom. While the other group of guys and gals will be heading up the XC force. The XC team will show them why we were the conference champions this year and come out wheels blazing.
Even though I'd like to do really well next weekend, I'm kind of not expecting too much considering I haven't ridin but maybe 3 times in the last few months. Pretty much zero time on a DS bike and only a few rides on the DH make for about zero practice time. Needless to say ill be going to try and do well, but mostly to have fun.
Stoked for everybody that is going and hopefully we can get some good finishes.
Updates as the weekend goes on (hopefully)!

Collegiate national champs
After joining the nau cycling club. I found out that gravity collegiate nationals champs is coming up soon. Therefore I immediately wanted to go. Due to an over zealous number of people wanting to race dh, we had to have a qualifying race to figure out who was gonna be going. Of course I miss qualifying for the race by one spot. But oh well. I will however be racing slalom, which should be a lot of fun. Now I just need to get my legs up to speed on the sprints and I'll be good to go.
I will be posting more as it nears closer. And look for a whole weekend report as we travel to angel fire for the race at the end of October.
UPDATE: I will now be racing DH as well.

Angel Fire
Just got back from a road trip to Angel Fire NM. It was a great trip and had tons of fun hanging out with Erik. It was my first time there and is now my favorite place I've ever ridden. We will most definitely be going back.
Hopefully for collegiate national champs in October. Anyway, here some photos of the trip. Enjoy....

End of an era, of sorts
With the recent lack of interest in putting in the effort to ride DH this summer, I've made the realization that I'm not sure if I want to keep doing it. Trying to gather people up to ride, who's going to shuttle, where we can ride, etc.. And when I do happen upon a day that we do ride downhill, it's just not as fun as it used to be. Even though I feel I've gotten a lot faster as of late, It's just not that mind blowing and adrenaline charging as it used to be. It could have something to do with the fact that all my downhill friends are pretty much out of the game, and that's the reason I started doing it in the first place.
Thoughts of trying to plan on going to races and riding bike parks has all but diminished from my brain nowadays. I've come to the conclusion that I can't afford and probably won't be able to afford doing that stuff until I've finished school and have a job where I make real money.
However.......
With this recent realization comes some exciting and potentially ground breaking news. After the years of despising riding uphills as well as down, I've been drawn to the side that I'd never thought I would. XC and Enduro riding. I've been doing it for about 3 months now, riding XC, and getting in better pedaling shape to where its actually really fun now, and I am having a blast doing it. So you can say that its sort of the end of an era, no more downhill. Just new and exciting adventures on my trail bikes.
I want to try and hit a few super-d races and possibly an XC race or two, since there are more of these races closer to me, and cost far less money than traveling and racing DH. With the recent purchase of a new Enduro bike, I'm more than excited to get going in this field of riding, and learning a whole other side to mountain bikes!!
